The Learnio programme has transformed the way I think about digital marketing. I now have the confidence to create digital content, understand online marketing strategies and use digital platforms more effectively. The programme has opened new opportunities for me and inspired me to continue learning while pursuing a career in the digital space.”

The Need

As South Africa’s digital economy continues to expand, employers increasingly require practical digital skills. Yet thousands of young people remain excluded from these opportunities due to limited access to industry-relevant training.   To help close this gap, youth@WORK partnered with Learnio South Africa to pilot a Digital Marketing Programme that equips unemployed youth with the knowledge, practical experience and confidence to pursue employment, entrepreneurship and freelance careers.

youth@WORK Solution

Through a 12-week instructor-led online programme, participants developed practical skills in:
  • Digital Marketing Fundamentals
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
  • Content Marketing
  • Email Marketing
  • Digital Advertising
  • Analytics & Performance Measurement
  • AI Tools for Digital Marketing
Throughout the programme, youth@WORK provided learner recruitment, onboarding, attendance management, communication, learner support and programme coordination to ensure participants remained engaged and successfully completed the course. Graduates then progressed to a dedicated Freelancing Programme, where they learned how to build professional profiles, market their services and access local and international freelance opportunities.

The Result

The pilot exceeded expectations, demonstrating both strong learner commitment and the growing demand for digital skills training.
